There were reports of an active shooter threat at an on-base location at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Wednesday afternoon at about 4:30, according to a press release from the base. Base security responded to the location.
All base personnel at Ault Field had been ordered into lock down status and all gates were closed. All personnel on Ault Field were ordered to seek shelter and stay in place.
The lockdown was lifted after about two hours and operations returned to normal at the base.
