
PORT ANGELES – The Port Angeles Roughrider golf teams opened up the season with wins over Bremerton. Girl’s coach Mike DuPuis watched his defending Olympic League champs beat Bremerton by 54 strokes 208-262. Senior Piper Williams had the hot clubs shooting a 46. Sophomore Claire Osterberg shot a 49. Junior Lauryn Chapman shot a 54. Sophomore Kaylee Schoning shot a 59 and sophomore Malena Marquez shot a 63. Coach DuPuis is excited about the season. “I am very excited to watch these young ladies this year. Their improvement from the beginning of last year till the end of the year was incredible. We have everyone back from last year’s team that won the league.”
Bob Anderson’s boys golfers beat Bremerton by 30 strokes 178-208. Edun Baily led the Roughriders with a 43. Austin Worthington shot a 44. Phoenix Flores shot a 45. Nate Anderson shot a 48. Reid Schmidt shot a 50.

In baseball action, the Roughriders shut out Bremerton 10-0. Starting Pitcher Elijah Flodstrom and two pitchers out of the Roughrider bull pen combined for a no hitter. Blake Sohlberg and Alex Angevine both had 2 hits for the Roughriders.

The Sequim Wolves dropped their opener to Bainbridge 16-5. The Wolves game with Forks has been rescheduled for Friday at Forks.

A former Peninsula Pirate Isaiah Sampson now playing at Adam’s St. was named to the All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team. The 6’7″ junior averaged 10 points per game while pulling down 5 rebounds per game. Sampson shot 46% from the field, 35% from the 3 pt stripe and 69% from the free throw line. Sampson had a high game of 30 points against Western Colorado. His teammate, 6’4” junior Jaylin Reed also a former Pirate, played in 16 games starting in one while averaging 7 points per game.
