PORT ANGELES — When a school can’t remember the last time it beat its rival in a certain sport, well obviously we are talking a major domination in that sport. The Port Angeles Roughriders broke the curse of the Wolves boys golf team upsetting the state power Wolves 175-199. Roughrider Golf coach Bob Anderson said going in to the match that the team dedicated their play to their #1 missing golfer Edun Baily. The top four Roughrider golfers were on fire with Austin Worthington having the hot club and a score of 41. Nate Anderson and Phoenix Flores shot a 44 and basketball-player-turned-golfer Reid Schmidt shot a 46. It was not that the Wolves were digging out of sand traps either. Cole Smithson shot a 42. Carter Cronin shot a 50 and Zack Thompson shot a 52.
The Roughrider girls also earned the win over their purple and gold Sisters from the East beating the Wolves 224-242. Roughrider Senior Piper Williams having a big-time year shot a 52. Clare Osterberg shot a 54. Lauryn Chapman shot a 57. Malena Marquez and Brenna Furnice shot 61s and Izzy Spencer shot a 70. For the Wolves girls Jelissa Julmist shot a 59.
