LOCAL SPORTS: Local hoopsters named to All-State game

SPOKANE — Seven local high school girls basketball players have been selected to the East – West All State Basketball Games that will be played June 17th in Spokane. In the 1B – 2B game, four Neah Bay Red Devils of the state champions will take the court. Allie Greene, Ryana Moss, Cerise Moss and Amber Swan. The West team will be coached by Mount Vernon Christian Head Coach Jeff Droog.  In the 1A-2A game, the Sequim Wolves; who placed 4th at the state tournament;  will be represented by Jelessa Julmist, Jolene Vaara and Hannah Bates.

These teams are from the all-State teams selected at the state tournaments by the media members. If players could not play in the game the committee looked at players who were atleast All League members.

2nd team All-State selections from Sequim Jolene Vara and Hannah Bates will play in the East-West All- State game along with Jelissa Julmist

The 1B-2B game will tip off at 1:30 pm and the 1A-2A game will tip off at 3:30 pm. If you cannot make it to Spokane for the games have no worries KONP Newsradio will broadcast both games.

In high school tennis action today Port Angeles is at Bremerton with the 1st serve at 4 pm.

It’s a big week of baseball and fast pitch action. The Roughrider baseball team, 6-3 on the season, has four games this week. The Roughriders travel to Olympic today with the first pitch at 4:15 pm. The Roughriders will host Sequim tomorrow, travel to Sequim on Thursday and host Lake Washington of Kirkland on Friday. That game will be broadcast live on Newsradio KONP.

In fast pitch action, Newsradio KONP will broadcast the Olympic at Sequim game on Thursday and the North Mason at Port Angeles game on Saturday. Both games at 4 pm airtime.
