SEQUIM — With two all-league starters out, including their all-everything pitcher, the Olympic Trojans girls fast pitch team limped into Dungeness Valley to take on a pack of hungry Sequim Wolves. But the Trojans sprinted out of town with a 4-1 win over a somber Wolves’ team that could only manage four hits and a run against back-up pitcher Roslyn Tate. Wolves’ 3rd baseman Taylee Rome had a single and a double. Laney Vig had a single and Lexie King had a single. That was it for the Wolves. Sequim pitcher Laney Vig was solid spreading out 7 hits and 4 runs to an Olympic team that averages 6 runs per game.
It does not get any easier for the Wolves, they will host 6th ranked Port Angeles on Tuesday. The Roughriders knocked off Kingston last night 15-4. Heidi Leitz earned the win, pitching 6 complete innings. She spread out 5 hits with 8 strikeouts. Cheyenne Zimmer earned the save. Taylor Worthington went 4 of 5 with a 2-run homerun. Natalie Robinson went 3 for 3. Lexie Smith went 2 for 3 with a double. Ava Anne Sheahan went 2 for 2 with a triple and Lily Halberg hit a 3-run home run.
The Roughriders will host North Mason tomorrow at 1 pm. That game will be broadcast right here on KONP Newsradio with the Firehouse Grill Burgers and Fries Dugout show starting at 12:45 pm.
