LOCAL SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

It was a tough day for both local fast pitch teams.

The Sequim Wolves fell at home 10-2 to 3rd ranked North Kitsap.

The 8th ranked Roughriders did not have a lot of answers at the plate for Trojan Sophomore pitcher Brenda Morrison losing to the 24th ranked Trojans  9-4. Morrison struck out 9 and gave up just 7 hits, 5 of those in the Roughrider 4th inning when the Roughriders scored 2 runs but left the bases loaded.

Taylor Worthington had a single and a home run to score 2 runs. Natalie Robinson had a single, a walk and scored 2 runs. Kennedy Rognlien went 2 for 3 with 2 signals. The Roughriders will have a tough week going to Olympic on Monday and to 3rd  ranked North Kitsap on Thursday.

The Sequim Wolves travel to Gig Harbor tomorrow with the first pitch at 11 am.

In baseball action the Roughriders beat Kingston 12-1. Sequim will host Olympic tonight at 4:15 pm. Monday Sequim goes to Olympic in a game that you can hear on News Radio KONP.

In tennis action the Roughriders beat Olympic 4-3.  In singles action Liberty Lauer lost 1-6 1-6.

Waverly Mead won 6-2.  Bridget Weed lost 6-1 6-7 0-1.

In doubles action Cindy Liang and Gwyneth Van Blair won 6-3 7-5.

Sarah Hancock and Bella Artis won 6-2 6-1.

Kayla Jones and Summer Hirst-Lowe lost 2-6 5-7.

Katie Sperr-Crane and Abby Robinson lost 2-6 0-6.

In soccer action Sequim lost to Bainbridge 10-0.

The Roughriders travel to North Kitsap tonight with the kick off at 7 pm.
