GIG HARBOR — After Sequim centerfielder Mia Pozernick hit a three-run homer against Gig Harbor in the top of the 5th to give the Wolves a 6-1 lead Saturday, it looked like it would be a fun day for the Wolves. But the Tides came back for a 8 inning 9-8 win. The Tides scored 6 runs in the 5th to take a 7-6 lead. The Wolves retook the lead in the 6th when Jordan Kidd singled and Mia Kirner hit a clutch double scoring Kidd. Sammie Bacon then doubled down the 3rd-base line scoring Kirner to put the Wolves up 8-7.
The Tides scored a run in the 6th and won on a walk off run in the 8th inning.
The Wolves are 7-3 in league play and 7-5 overall.

The Roughriders will play at Olympic today at 4:15 pm. Olympic beat the Roughriders Thursday 9-4.

In Junior Babe Ruth action, Local 155 beat Westport 12-6. Bryce Deleon earned the win pitching 4 innings with 7 strike outs. Carson Waddell earned the save pitching 2 innings with 2 strike outs. Bryce Deleon went 2 for 3 scoring 2 runs. Ian Smithson went 1 of 4 scoring 3 runs. Brandt Perry went 3 of 5 scoring 3 runs with 4 RBIs. Chris Jaynes went 1 for 4 scoring a run. Carson Waddell went 1 of 3 scoring 2 runs. Jaron Tolliver went 1 for 3 scoring a run For Westport, Lane Wilson had 2 hits with 2 runs and Lincoln Bear had a hit and scored 2 runs.

In high school baseball action, Sequim beat Olympic 11-7. The Wolves play at Olympic today and that game will be broadcast live here on Newsradio KONP. The Firehouse Grill Burgers and Fries Dugout pre-game show starts at 4 pm with the first pitch at 4:15 pm. The Wolves are 5-8 in league play and 9-8 overall. Olympic is 7-6 in league play and 10-8 overall.
The PA Roughriders will host Kingston at 4:15 pm.

Peninsula Pirates women’s basketball Head coach Allison Crumb is at it again prospecting for gold nuggets in the “Land of the Midnight Sun”, and hitting the mother lode after signing another Alaska all-state hoops star. 5’10” power forward Lainey Suaava of Colony High School in Palmer, Alaska looks to be the replacement for departing record setting post Ituau Tuisaula. Suaava helped the Knights to a 20-8 record and a 3rd place finish at the 3A Alaska State tournament.

Suaava who averaged 12 points per game her Senior year played for the Blue team in the class 3A-4A Alaska All Star game. Suaava scored 7 points in the game against her new Pirate teammate Amy Pilon of Lathrop high school who helped her gold team to a 90-83 win. Pilon had 12 points.
