PORT ANGELES — In high school golf action, the Roughriders have completed their league season with a 8-1 record. The Roughriders out shot North Mason 185-237.
Austin Worthington shot a 45 with his teammates right on his heels. Edun Bailey shot a 46. Nate Anderson and Phoenix Flores shot a 47. Carl Wentz shot a 48 and Reid Schmidt shot a 51. Roughrider coach Bob Anderson says he is proud of his team: “It’s an absolute pleasure to work with these kids, it is so much fun. Our boys and girls golf teams had the highest GPAs for the Spring sports teams. They are great kids on and off the course and are not afraid to work”.
The Roughrider girls outshot the Bulldogs 216-224. Piper Williams by shooting a 44 became the regular season league champion. Her coach Mike DuPuis has high praise for his lone senior: “Piper did what Piper does, she is a great competitor and even a better person. She is the team captain and leads by example. In soccer action Port Angeles lost to Bainbridge 10-0. The Roughriders host Bremerton tonight at 6:45. Sequim will host Kingston at 6:45.

In baseball action, Sequim will play in a non-league game at Olympic at 4:15 pm.

The Olympic league tennis tournament starts this morning at 9 am at North Kitsap.

In fast pitch action, all eyes will be in Poulsbo where the 8-2 11th ranked Roughriders take on the 9-0 2nd ranked North Kitsap Vikings. A Viking win will clench the Olympic league championship. In league play the Vikings score 11 runs per game and give up just one run. The Roughriders average 10 runs per game and give up 3 runs per game. Last year, the two teams split winning on the opponents’ field as the Roughriders won the league championship. The game will be broadcast live on KONP and streamed at myclallamcounty.com. The Firehouse Grill Burgers and Fries Dugout pre-game show starts at 4pm. The first pitch is at 4:15 pm.
The Sequim Wolves are just a half game behind the Roughriders with a 8-3 league record. The Wolves have lost both games against North Kitsap and at home against Olympic. It’s Senior Night at Sequim today as the Wolves host Kingston at 4:15 pm. The Wolves will honor eight Seniors. Tuesday, the Wolves have another big game at Olympic and that game will be broadcast on KONP.
