Sequim gives city manager a raise

SEQUIM – Sequim’s city manager is getting a raise.

Last month, the city council completed the annual evaluation of City Manager Matthew Huish. After that, The City Council voted unanimously to approve a 5% cost of living salary adjustment, which is comparable with adjustments for other non-represented staff, effective May 1.
The city used an outside consultant who specializes in the evaluation process, to coordinate feedback from each council member into a comprehensive performance evaluation.

In the summary of the review, the Council commended Huish’s efforts in keeping up to date with what is happening in city government and in relevant civic organizations.  They also expressed pleasure with the City Manager’s quick response to their inquiries and/or putting Council in touch with the responsible staff members.

Looking to the future, the Council requested that the City Manager proactively present them with challenges that he feels the City faces, and that he has a plan or direction to address them.  They also requested a review of the organization and the current duties assigned to staff as their job descriptions evolve.
