CLALLAM BAY – On Wednesday night at about 10:30, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a possible homicide in Clallam Bay.
Responding Deputies found the body of 39-year-old Charlotte Lopez inside a travel trailer. Indications are that she died from a gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending.
A suspect on the property was identified, and investigators developed probable cause for the arrest of 55-year-old Cipriano Ojeda-Ibarra, who was booked into Clallam County Jail for Murder in the 2nd Degree. He is believed to be the victim’s stepfather.
The Major Incident Response Team was activated to respond and assist with the investigation. This includes investigators not only from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, but Port Angeles Police, Sequim Police, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Police, and the Washington State Patrol.
Search warrants have been obtained so detailed processing of the scene can be conducted and interviews of witnesses are continuing. Washington State Patrol Lab Crime Scene Response Team is responding to assist with the scene. The Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office and Coroner’s Office are also participating in the response.
