Dash Air expects to begin limited charter flights in July

By Pepper Fisher

PORT ANGELES – Startup air shuttle company Dash Air expects to begin using their aircraft for limited charter service starting in mid-July and into early August.

Company President Clint Ostler said in an email they then plan to launch a limited schedule of regular flights to SeaTac on August 11.

Ostler said they are still waiting on an official decision from DOT following last year’s complaints to the US Dept. of Transportation from Kenmore Air claiming unfair competition. He said, in the meantime, they are going to follow the guidelines for their type of operation, “…if we didn’t have an intrastate operating restriction.”

Ostler said they’ve had a few meetings with the DOT since May illustrating their operation is no different than Kenmore Air prior to them receiving DOT authority, and cited four other airlines that operated in a similar fashion.

He said they’re hopeful they can get a favorable decision by the end of summer.
