SEQUIM – A juvenile female was seriously injured when a car crashed into a tree on Sunday morning near Sequim.
Details from the Sheriff’s Office are sketchy, but at about 1:25 am, Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle collision in the 100 block of Griffith Farm Road. The reporting party called 911 asking for help because there was a vehicle with lights on in the yard.
Officers with the Sequim Police Department were the first to arrive on scene to find a one-vehicle collision into a tree. The juvenile female victim had sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to an unspecified trauma center. At last report, her condition was listed as unknown.
The vehicle was occupied by three other juvenile passengers who did not require immediate medical attention.
The Sheriff’s Office said their preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was traveling above the speed limit when it failed to negotiate a corner and hit the tree.
This investigation is currently ongoing and active.
