BELFAIR — Soccer fans who sat in Pugh Stadium at North Mason high school last night could swear they heard that old 80s classic humming in their ears “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran.
The Sequim Wolves soccer team began their quest for a league championship by dominating North Mason 9-1. The “Dungeness Rocket,” Taryn Johnson, had the afterburners on and showed why NCAA D2 Minnesota State signed her to a letter of intent. Johnson scored 5 goals and had one assist. Johnson, not a pack unto herself, had a lot of help from the rest of her pack. Jennyfer Gomez scored 2 goals, Nikoline Updike had a goal and an assist. Sasha Yada scored a goal. Olive Bridge, Amara Gonzales, Kiley Winter, Ivy Barrett and Kaia Lestage all had assists.
The Wolves will take on Port Angeles Thursday night.
