LOCAL SPORTS: Prep tennis, soccer, swimming and volleyball results

PORT ANGELES — The Roughrider tennis team got back on track sweeping Kingston 7-0.  In singles action Nathan Basden won 6-0; 6-1.  Matthew Miller won 7-5; 6-3.

C.J. Elliott won 6-0; 6-0. In doubles action Luke Flodstrom and Tate Alton won 6-0; 6-0.

Reid Schmidt and Keatyn Hoch won 6-3; 6-2. Austin Worthington and Grant Butterworth won 6-1; 6-2.  Carter Gundersen and Carston Seibel won 6-1 6-0.

The Roughriders, now 4-1, will host Sequim tomorrow.

In soccer action, the Sequim Wolves won their 3rd game with a 7-1 win at Olympic. If Taryn Johnson continues her rapid-fire scoring pace, her Minnesota State Mavericks might petition the NCAA to put her on the next plane to Minneapolis and have her suit up in time for the NCAA playoffs. Johnson scored 6 of the Wolves 7 goals. Nikoline Updike scored the other goal. Raimey Brewer and Eve Breithaupt each had 2 assists. Jenny Gomez and Olive Bridge each had an assist. The Wolves have the first of their two big meeting against North Kitsap tomorrow night at Sequim with the kickoff at 6:45 pm.

The “Dungeness Rocket”, Taryn Johnson tore up the Bulldog net with 6 goals

The Roughriders evened up their record at 2-2 with a 3-0 win at home against North Mason. Teanna Clark got the Roughriders on the scoreboard with a goal at the 10-minute mark. At the 28th minute, Kedryn DeScala scored a goal on an assists from Paige Mason. DeScala scored her 2nd goal at the 51st minute when she scored on a rebound off a Becca Manson shot. The Roughriders defense was outstanding with the Bulldogs getting just one shot on goal!

In swimming action, the Roughriders beat Klahowya 130-45 and placed first in 11 of the 12 events. 1st place finishers were: Harper McGuire 200 IM and the 100 butterfly.

Yau Fu 50 freestyle and diving. Brooke St Luise 50 freestyle, Amayah Nelson 100 Freestyle. Lynzee Reid 500 freestyle and Lizzy Shaw 100 backstroke.

In the 200 Medley Relay it was McGuire, St. Luise, Fu and Shaw.

In the 200 freestyle it was Shaw, Fu, McGuire and Danika Asgeirsson. In the 400 freestyle it was Nelson, Asgeirsson, Reid and St. Luise.

In volleyball action Sequim remains unbeaten at 3-0 beating Olympic 3-1 and Port Angeles earned their first win beating North Mason 3-2.

There’s middle school football action today as Stevens will host Forks at 4 pm.
