PORT ANGELES – We got some additional information Thursday from the US Coast Guard about the visit to Port Angeles this weekend during the Crab and Seafood Festival.
The Coast Guard will host free tours of Coast Guard Cutter Alert at the marine terminal.
Members of the public are encouraged to tour the 210-foot Alert, one of the Coast Guard’s three Medium Endurance Cutters stationed on the West Coast, and learn about life on board, the Alert’s mission and more from members of the crew.
Here’s how it’s going to work. A shuttle will run every hour on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to the marine terminal. Advance sign up is required and may be done on the Crab Festival website (click here); an ID check and security screening will be conducted prior to boarding the shuttle. Attendees are required to wear closed-toed shoes, may not bring any knives, guns or hazardous objects, and bags are limited to small handbags or purses.
