PORT ANGELES – It was a great homecoming for both the Port Angeles Roughriders and the Sequim Wolves last Friday night.
As expected, the Wolves blew out North Mason 36-0.
The Roughriders, as big underdogs to Class 3A Bainbridge, shocked the Spartans and the hometown media with a picture perfect 48-18 blowout. Roughrider senior H-back Landon Jones had the game of a lifetime, scoring 4 TDs. Along with Jason Hawes and the rest of the green machine, PA dominated a completely confused and discouraged Spartan offense that was averaging 40 points per game.
The Roughriders now face bottom dwellers Kingston and North Mason and will be favored by 4 TDs in each game. PA should have the league’s 3rd district playoff spot solidified.
North Kitsap captured the league championship by beating Bremerton 41-14. Bremerton with their win over Port Angeles last week will be the league’s 2nd place team.
The Roughriders will play at Kingston Thursday night. Kingston was blown out by Olympic Friday night 62-7.
Unfortunately, KONP will not be able to broadcast the game Thursday night due to the lack of a safe and secure place at the Kingston football field from which to broadcast. KONP will carry the Roughriders senior night game against North Mason and the Roughrider district playoff game.
KONP will broadcast the Sequim game with North Kitsap Friday night and the Sequim at Bremerton game next Thursday night.
