LOCAL SPORTS: Sequim loses another tough soccer match to powerhouse NK

POULSBO — In soccer action last night once again the 10th ranked Sequim Wolves lost a heart breaker to the 6th ranked North Kitsap Vikings 3-2. Senior Jenny Gomez came up big again with 2 goals. Taryn Johnson and Libby Turella both had assists. The Wolves fall to 9-2 and have another tough game at Bainbridge tomorrow.

The Roughriders knocked off Olympic 2-0. Teanna Clark scored at the 2-minute mark with the assist from Kedryn DeScala. Freshmen Sophia Ritchie scored at the 37th minute with an assist from Paige Mason. The Roughriders are now 7-5 and will host 6th ranked North Kitsap tomorrow night.

There is NWAC soccer action today the 2nd ranked Pirate woman will host Edmonds at 2 pm and the 4th ranked Pirate Men will host Edmonds at 4:15 pm.

In volleyball action, North Kitsap swept Sequim 3-0 and Olympic beat the Roughriders 3-2. The Wolves are 8-3 on the season the Roughriders are 3-8.

In swimming, Olympic is at PA at 3 pm.

There is middle school football today, Stevens at 2-2 will host 4-0 Sequim at Civic field with the kickoff at 4 pm.

Former Roughrider cross country star Jack Gladfelter placed 19th out of 55 runners at a major college cross country meet In Lewiston Idaho. Out of the 12 teams at the meet, which featured schools such as Gonzaga and the University of Montana, Glatfelter’s Corban College finished 6th.

There is a major fundraiser for the Port Angeles Roughrider football team that raises money for scholarships put on by the Roughrider football booster club. The event is set for October 22nd at the Naval Elks lodge and will start at 6 pm. The night will be a Sports trivia event with tickets being sold for $20 per participant and there are teams of 4-6 per table. There will be prizes, a silent auction and raffle.
