PORT ANGELES — The Roughrider tennis team will be sending 2 doubles teams to the district tournament in Bremerton this weekend. Luke Flodstrom and Tate Alton went 4-2 to finish 4th and Nathan Basden and Matthew Miller went 3-2 and finished 5th in league.

Both the Stevens Stampeders and Sequim Wolves won their final football games of the season yesterday.

Stevens beat Port Townsend 18-8 to finish the season 3-3. The Stampeders were without arguably one of the best players on the Olympic Peninsula in running back Josh Needham for most of the season with an injury. Yesterday Needham got to play in the final game, scoring 2 touchdowns. Riley Arnold was moved from the line to running back and scored his first touchdown. Wide receiver Asher Irvine caught a 40-yard pass from Kade Acker to the 5-yard line to set up a touchdown. The Stampeders coaching staff gave praise to Rodolfo Gomez for his defensive play.

Sequim completed a perfect season at 6-0, beating Forks 16-8. Clayton Ernst hit Kade Miller for a 2-yard touchdown pass and Fred Wilhem kicked both of his 2-point conversions. With the score tied 8-8 with 5:28 left in the game Kade Miller hit Nolan Bacchus for a 27-yard touchdown.

Andy Reynolds, Chase Crossman and Kade Miller each had an interception.

There is soccer action tonight as the Sequim Wolves finish their home schedule with a 6:45 kickoff against Bremerton. The Wolves end the league season Thursday night at Kingston.

In volleyball action the Roughriders are at Bainbridge and Sequim will host Bremerton. Both matches tip off at 6:15 tonight.
