UNDATED — It was a mixed bag of wins and losses for area high school and Peninsula Pirate basketball teams over the weekend.
The big game was at Bremerton, where Kasey Ulin’s Roughriders led Bremerton for 85% of the game from 6-14 points. Unfortunately for the Roughriders, the Knights outscored Port Angeles 26-7 in the 4th quarter with the Knights getting the 74-62 win. The Roughriders led by 8 at the end of the 3rd quarter and extended their lead by 10 points. But like last year, the Roughriders had major problems breaking a full court press.
Isaiah Shamp led the Roughriders with 18 points. Parker Nickerson hit for 17 with two dunks. Dallas Dunning hit for 10 points and Kason Albaugh hit three 3-point shots in the first half for 9 points. The Roughriders 1-1 Host North Mason tomorrow night.

The Sequim Wolves girls lost a heartbreaker to Bainbridge in their opener 51-48. Like last year, poor free throw shooting and turnovers doomed the Wolves. The Wolves were an ice cold 13 of 30 from the free throw line. One bright spot was the play of touted freshman transfer from Neah Bay Gracie Chartraw. Chartraw hit for 24 points.
