LOCAL SPORTS: PA boys swimmers splash past Klahowya

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders boys swim team out swam Klahowya yesterday 120-39 for their 2nd win of the season. The Roughriders won 9 of the 11 events.

Earning first place ribbons were: Colby Ellefson in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Edward Gillespie in the 200 free style. Fin Thompson in the 50 freestyle.

Nolan Medgin in the 100 freestyle and Thomas Jones in the 500 freestyle.

In the 200-freestyle relay, it was Edward Gillespie, Killian Waknitz, Issac Meek, Jack Root. In the 200 medley, it was Fin Thompson, Nolan Medgin, Thomas Jones and Colby Ellefson.  In the 400 Free style it was Thomas Jones, Nolan Medgin, Fin Thompson and Colby Ellefson.

There is high school bowling action today North Mason is at Port Angeles and Sequim travels to Klahowya. Both events start at 2:45 pm.

In high school basketball action tonight, the Roughrider boys and girls teams will be 3 touchdown favorites over Olympic. The boys tip off at Olympic at 7 pm, the Roughrider girls host the Trojans at 7 pm.

There is NWAC basketball action tonight as the 9th-ranked, 4-2 Peninsula Pirate women travel to Pendleton, Oregon to participate in the Blue Mountain Crossover tournament. The Pirates will tip off against 3-5 Blue Mountain tonight at 6 pm. That game as well as the Pirates games tomorrow against Chemeketa and Saturday against 7th ranked Green River will be broadcast right here on KONP Newsradio.

Pirate freshman Jelessa Julmist of Sequim and Allie Greene of Neah Bay have seen significant playing time for the 9th-ranked Peninsula College with both players averaging 5 points game game
