BAINBRIDGE — The Port Angeles boys’ basketball team came from behind to defeat Bainbridge Tuesday night 74-67 in an important Olympic league game.
Behind at half by one point and the end of three quarters 57 to 53, the Riders outscored the Spartans 21 to 10 in the 4th quarter. Down 65 to 60 with four minutes to play, the Riders were sparked by several steals and baskets by Parker Nickerson, Isaiah Shamp and Dallas Dunning to finish the game on a 14 to 2 run. Nickerson led the team with 34 points, Shamp had 16 and Kason Albaugh tossed in 10.
In girls action the Roughriders (3-1, 5-6 overall) lost at home to Bainbridge last night 44-40. The Roughriders will travel to North Kitsap Friday night with a 6:30 pm tip off. Both the girls and boys games will be broadcast on KONP Newsradio starting with the Pre-game show at 6:15 pm. Greg Thomas will have the play-by-play Joe Gladfelter and Bill Bates will have the color commentary.
The Sequim Wolves boys knocked off North Mason last night 70-58. The Wolves will travel to Kingston on Friday night with a 7 pm tip off.
The Sequim girls (3-1, 5-2) blew out North Mason 68-49. Jolene Vaara led the way with 20 points. Bobby Mixon had 14 points, Gracie Chartraw hit for 12 points, Libby Turella and Dani Herman both had 10 points. The Wolves will host Kingston Friday night at 7 pm.
