SEQUIM — The City of Sequim will begin drilling a new deep-water well at Dr. Standard Park on Silberhorn Road this week. The work will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the project will happen in 2 phases.
Phase 1 of the drilling is expected to be completed in mid-May. Phase 2 is expected to begin in 2025.
Residents are being asked to avoid the park and to heed construction signs and park closure signs. The park is home to Sequim Little League, and city officials are coordinating with the Little League to try and create as little negative impact as possible.
There are 3 aquifers, one atop the other, below the 10-acre park, with the first sitting at about 200 feet down, and the third at about 500 feet.
Phase 1 work will be performed by Holt Services.
