BASEBALL
SILVERDALE — On May 1st, the Port Angeles Roughrider baseball team will play at Cheney Stadium home of the Tacoma Rainiers. With the way the Roughriders are playing right now, they might want to take on the Rainiers.
Yesterday, Roughrider pitcher Colton Romero threw a 5 inning, no hit shut out at Olympic leading PA to a 10-0 win. Romero also helped his cause at the plate getting 2 hits and scoring a run. Alex Angevine was hot, getting 3 hits, scoring 3 runs and getting 2 RBIs. Trae Hanan had 2 hits with a walk and 1 run scored. Nathan Basden had 2 hits 2 runs scored and an RBI. Romero had 9 strike outs in his 5 inning no hitter.
Sequim lost at North Kitsap 7-1.
FAST PITCH
The Roughrider Fast pitch team knocked off Bremerton 11-1 in 5 innings.
Looking at the stat box all the Roughriders needed were senior shortstop Natalie Robinson and sophomore pitcher Lynzee Reid. Reid threw 5 innings with 5 strike outs scattering 4 hits and 1 run. At the plate Reid had a homer, a triple, a single and 2 RBIs. Robinson had 2 home runs including the 2-run walk off homer in the 5th to end the game.
Kennedy Rognlien hit a homer with 2 RBIs. Abby Kimball had a double and a RBI. Ava Anne Sheahan had a homer and a RBI.
The Sequim Wolves lost at home to Bainbridge 15-13.
Mia Kirner hit 2 doubles and a single with 3 RBIs.Taylee Rome had a home run, a double, a single, 2 walks and 3 RBIs. Hannah Giddings had a double and a single with 2 walks and 2 RBIs. Mikki Green had a double, a single and 5 RBIs.
SOCCER
In soccer action, the Roughriders lost at North Mason 7-1. Grant Butterworth scored the only goal for the Roughriders.
Sequim lost at Olympic 1-0.
GOLF
In golf, the Roughrider boys lost to a very good Bainbridge squad 186 -166. Cale Wentz led the way shooting a 42. Reid Schmidt, Austin Worthington and Sky Gelder all shot a 48.
