POULSBO — It was a very big day for the Port Angeles Roughrider golf teams who went into golf-rich Kitsap County and came away with down-to-the-last-green wins over very talented North Kitsap teams.
Roughrider golf coaches Mike DuPuis and Bob Anderson once again are having their athletes come up big because they have the coaching ability to get the most out of their golfers by giving them the resources to be the best golfers they can be.
The Roughriders girls beat the Vikings by just 2 strokes 209-211. The Roughriders were led by Malena Marquez who had her best score of the year shooting a 48. Lauryn Chapman and Claire Osterberg shot 53s. Autumn Wilson-Rowland shot a 55 and Izzy Spencer shot a 69.
The Roughrider boys won by just 10 strokes 177-187. Nate Anderson had the hot clubs shooting a 41. Cale Wentz shot a 44, Reid Schmidt and Sky Gelder shot 46s.

The Roughrider fast pitch team used their game against Bainbridge as batting practice, bombing the Spartans 18-1. Abby Kimball had a double, 2 singles and one RBI. Lynzee Reid had an Inside-the-park home run with 4 RBIs. Natalie Robinson had 2 home runs with 3 RBIs.
Ava Anne Sheahan had 2 singles and one RBI. Heidi Leitz had 2 triples and one RBI.
Mikkiah Steven’s had a hit, and 2 RBIs and Ali Money had a triple and one RBI.
Heidi Leitz earned the win, going 3 innings with 4 strike outs. Lynzee Reid earned the save giving up no hits no runs with 3 strike outs.

Track and Field yesterday at Bainbridge Island High School including Port Angeles, Bainbridge Island, Bremerton and Port Townsend.
Port Angeles women had 51.5 points finishing 3rd in team points just behind Bainbridge Island and Bremerton. The champions were Faerin Tait in the 200-meter sprint; Leia Larson in the 3200-meter run and Paige Mason in the Long Jump.
Port Angeles men had 86 points finishing 2nd in team points just behind Bainbridge Island. Champions were Parker Nickerson in the Triple Jump and 110 meter High Hurdles; Trevor Martin in the Shot Put; Dallas Dunning in the High Jump and Easton Dempsey, Kaiden Point, Finn Thompson and Tanner McLean in the 4 x 400-meter relay.

Several of these athletes and more will be competing at the elite Liberty Invitational Tournament tomorrow in Seattle.
