PORT ANGELES – A Port Angeles man is in custody today after a homeowner held the suspect at gunpoint after finding him ransacking his home Monday.
At 2:50am, Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies got a report of a burglary in-progress in the 2000 block of East Ennis Creek Road in Port Angeles. The homeowner told dispatch that he had the burglary suspect at gunpoint inside his house.
Deputies arrived and arrested 61-year-old Rocky Sindars of Port Angeles, who they describe as a career criminal.
Sindars entered the house through one of the windows. The homeowner woke up to noises inside of his home, armed himself and found Sindars going through his belongings. The homeowner held Sindars at gunpoint and called 911.
Sindars was found to be in possession of items belonging to the homeowner.
Investigators say Sindars has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1984 with 8 felony convictions including theft, assaults and multiple drug charges. He also has 17 gross misdemeanor and 7 misdemeanor convictions.
