PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Roughrider 6’5″ power forward Isaiah Shamp is staying home to be a Peninsula Pirate. The Pirates’ biggest need last year was some big bodies on the front line, and Shamp is a great start, says Pirate Head Coach Bryce Jacobsen: “Isaiah is a great young man who I believe is going to fit in well in our program. He comes in with a humble and hungry approach. He is big, strong, and wants to get better. I believe he is going to be a great representative of our program and the Port Angeles community as a whole.”
Shamp’s high school coach, Kasey Ulin, is going to miss his big man and is very proud of where Isaiah is going: “Isaiah had an excellent high school career, a two-time Olympic League First Team selection. He averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds a game over the past two years. He was a vital part of our team. He is an amazing young man, extremely hardworking, intelligent, high character, loves the game of basketball, and improved every single year. It was fun to see his development each year. He put the time in the offseason to get stronger, quicker, improve his footwork, shooting, and post moves. Peninsula College is a great fit for him. I think he is going to a situation that suits him, and I am really excited to follow his growth and development.”
