PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles City Council approved the creation of three new positions aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Port Angeles Fire Department and the Department of Community & Economic Development.
The Port Angeles Fire Department, one of the busiest single-station fire departments in the nation, will introduce a new Firefighter Paramedic and Firefighter EMT to the station roster. These positions will provide critical coverage and supplemental relief to a department that has experienced a 55% increase in call volume over the last ten years.
In the Department of Community & Economic Development, a new Building Inspector position has been approved. This position will ensure efficient inspections and operations, particularly in the oversight of the City’s short-term lodging program.
The approval of these positions comes as part of the City Council’s goal to increase capacity across City departments. Last year, the Council approved eight other positions as part of the 2024 City Budget.
