Structure fires challenge Sequim crews prior to festival parade

SEQUIM — Clallam County Fire District #3 (CCFD3) tackled two structure fires on May 10 and 11, 2024, just days before the Irrigation Festival Grand Parade.

The first blaze erupted shortly before 5:00 pm on May 10 at a residence on 4041 Sequim-Dungeness Way. Prompted by a bystander’s alert, CCFD3 units rushed to the scene to find a single-story manufactured home emitting smoke. Firefighters swiftly deployed multiple hose lines to quell the flames and contain the fire, salvaging personal belongings for the homeowner. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with no reported injuries.

The following morning, at approximately 6:00 am, another fire erupted at 42 McComb Lane, with heavy smoke coming from a garage with an apartment above it. CCFD3 teams swiftly tackled the blaze, conducting a primary search and ventilating the structure to improve visibility. Within 40 minutes, firefighters had the situation under control. Again, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
