SEQUIM — The Sequim Wolves girls’ golf team will send three players to the state golf tournament, as a sophomore Raimey Brewer qualified 4th in the district. Brewer joins teammates Emily Post and Ava Johnson. The tournament will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Meadowood Golf Course in Liberty Lake, Washington.

The girls’ district fast pitch tournament starts this Friday in Lacey. After the draw, it was evident the committee did not want a repeat championship game between North Kitsap and Port Angeles. Although both teams dominated the Olympic League again and the Olympic League has dominated fellow district member leagues South Puget Sound and KingCo, the committee seeded the Roughriders #1 but gave the Vikings a #4 seed. This means if both teams win their first-round games, they will meet in the semifinals. The best the loser of that game can achieve is 3rd place in the district, and they will face a much higher-seeded team in the first round of the state tournament.

Port Angeles is heavily favored to win against the #8 seed Highline, with that game scheduled for Noon. The Roughriders will then play the winner of the #4 seed North Kitsap vs. #5 seed Fife game.

Six Olympic League teams are in the tournament, and Port Angeles, North Kitsap,  Olympic and Kingston are all expected to qualify for the State Tournament.

In other news, former Roughrider and Wolves alums are making their mark in college baseball. Former Roughrider Ethan Flodstrom continues to excel at the University of Texas Permian Basin. The Falcons are still in the NCAA Tournament and play today at 2:00 PM in Lubbock against Regis University. During his two-year career, Flodstrom has maintained a batting average of .398, starting 94 games in the outfield, scoring 92 runs, and tallying 138 hits, 30 doubles, 6 triples, 5 home runs, 107 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases. The Falcons are 34-23 going into today’s playoff game. Flodstrom is majoring in Management.
