PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman died following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 101 near Carlsborg.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred just before 11 AM Friday as 61-year-old Julie M. Moen was driving her 1990 gray Jeep Wrangler eastbound on US-101 near Boyce Road. While traveling in lane two of two, Moen lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway to the right and come to rest in a ditch.
Moen, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to Olympic Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
Authorities have confirmed there were no charges filed in relation to the incident.
The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, which has been attributed to the vehicle’s wheels leaving the roadway.
