Port Angeles – The Fourth of July is coming up on Thursday, and the cities of Port Angeles and Sequim have made sure there will be plenty to do day and night.
The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce will host the Cornhole and Corndogs Tournament, sponsored by Olympic Medical Center, in the same lot as the Winter Ice Village starting at 10:00am.
There’s an Apple Pie Baking Contest, sponsored by Country Aire Natural Foods. Food and craft vendors will open in the Gateway Transit Lanes and on City Pier around 11:00am through the evening. The 2nd Annual Pat Webber Memorial Pickleball Tournament will begin at noon on the upper level parking lot of the Port Angeles Wharf.
This year, the highly popular, annual Kids Zone, 12:00-5:00pm, will expand locations to include both the Gateway Transit Center and the City Pier parking lot, under the Chamber’s big tent.
The Hot Dog Eating Contest will begin at City Pier Stage at 2:00pm. The Lawnmower Demo Derby will begin at about 3:00pm, the Annual 4th of July Parade, sponsored by Kitsap Bank, will begin at 6:00pm, this year’s free 4th of July Concert will be held on City Pier after the parade, around 8:00pm, and will run until the fireworks begin just after 10:00pm. The launch site will be just west of Valley Creek and the best viewing area will be Pebble Beach Park, although just about any location in the downtown Waterfront District will be superb for enjoying the fireworks.
The annual fireworks show will be accompanied by patriotic music played on KONP Radio, 101.7FM and 1450AM.
The City of Sequim and the Sequim City Band have partnered for an Independence Day Celebration in Sequim on July 4 at Carrie Blake Park at 3:00pm.
