PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles police report a man was jailed Tuesday after defecating in front of a restaurant and its employees and then wandering into the street, causing an accident.
Police Sgt. Clay Rife says it was just before 7:00am Tuesday when 58-year-old Darin Carlson began banging on the windows of the Chestnut Cottage restaurant. Because they were not open yet, the employees didn’t let him in.
Rife says it was at that time that Carlson removed his clothing and relieved himself on the front patio as employees called police. Carlson then walked into traffic at the Corner of Front and Race Streets causing a driver to slam on their brakes, which led to a rear end collision.
Police arrived, gave Carlson a plastic bag and told him to pick up his waste on the patio. They reported he picked it up with his bare hand and put it in the bag.
It was determined that Carlson caused unspecified damage to the restaurant, so he was booked and jailed on a Charge of Malicious Mischief and referred for Disorderly Conduct.
Rife told KONP that this was Carlson’s seventh arrest in the last year.
