Sequim’s Turella shines at US Junior Olympics

COLLEGE STATION, TX — Sequim High School sophomore Clare Turella ended an outstanding high jump season at the USATF National Olympics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Turella entered the competition ranked 20th in the nation among 57 jumpers with a high jump mark of 5’1″. She did not disappoint in “Aggieland”, finishing 17th in the nation with a jump of 5’1″.

Going into the competition, the top five jumpers had marks of 5’5″ to 5’8″.

For the Sequim Wolves, Turella won the WIAA league, district, and state championships as a freshman. She secured the district championship with a personal best jump of 5’3″.

With serious work in the weight room and continued support from her outstanding coaching staff, Turella’s large and growing fan club looks forward to watching her over the next several years.
