PORT ANGELES – The City of Port Angeles today declared a Stage II Water Shortage due to low flows in the Elwha River.
Here’s Public Works Director Mike Healy.
“The river flows have reached the level there were Nathan, City Manager West, is going to invoke a voluntary water conservation message. It’s a serious water shortage by ordinance, but it’s voluntary conservation measures where, you know, we just ask our residents and users to watch your water consumption and save where they can.”
Some recommended voluntary conservation actions include:
Installing low-flow shower heads and faucets that are available free upon request from City Hall.
Reducing frequency and volume of lawn watering and limiting it to early morning or evenings.
Reducing car washing frequency.
Operating dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are full.
