SEQUIM – The Sequim School District began the school year with a new School Resource Officer. Following an internal departmental application and review process, Officer Daniel Martinez has been selected as the new SRO. The position became vacant with the pending promotion of prior SRO Kyle Resser.
Officer Martinez joined the Sequim Police Department 3 years ago. He previously worked as a police officer in Los Angeles and Bainbridge Island.
Prior to his career in law enforcement, Martinez spent seven years working as an EMT.
Police and school officials felt that his work in law enforcement and emergency response made him an obvious choice to be the newest School Resource Officer in Sequim.
