PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was charged Tuesday in Clallam County Superior Court with multiple offenses, including felony Hit and Run with injury.
39-year-old Ryan S. Chesley also faces charges for Driving While License Suspended, DUI Drugs, and Possession of Fentanyl. He remains in Clallam County Jail with bail set at $10,000.
The case began last Thursday morning, when Port Angeles Police officers responded to a vehicle collision near Laurel and Viewcrest. According to the investigation, a southbound Honda CRV driven by Chesley struck a parked Toyota pickup, pushing it into a nearby yard. The truck then hit a construction worker who was working several feet from the street. Chesley allegedly fled the scene on foot but was apprehended near City Lights Place.
Officers discovered that Chesley had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted for a prior offense related to driving while suspended. They also found suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Investigators believe Chesley was under the influence at the time of the crash.
The construction worker was able to drive himself to the hospital for treatment.
