PORT ANGELES — Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue will hold three virtual public meetings to discuss a proposed fire levy lid lift on the November 5 ballot. This comes after a similar attempt to raise the levy failed in August. The meetings will take place on Mondays, October 14, 21, and 28, starting at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

The fire district is requesting a $0.54 increase in its regular levy, raising it from $0.96 to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value. This levy, which provides 82% of the district’s funding, supports essential emergency services like basic and advanced life support.
If approved, the increased revenue will help retain staff, fill a vacant deputy fire chief position, fund volunteer training, and replace outdated equipment. Homeowners with properties valued at $300,000 would see an annual increase of $162.
