Get ready for a wet weekend

PORT ANGELES — A powerful atmospheric river is set to drench western Washington starting this afternoon, bringing heavy rainfall that could impact the region through Sunday night.

The National Weather Service warns that areas like Neah Bay, Forks, and Quinault could see between 4 to 8 inches of rain by the end of the weekend. The Port Angeles area could see up to two inches of rain.

Forecasters warn that the heavy rain will likely swell rivers and streams, particularly in areas prone to flooding. Travelers along U.S. Highway 101 and local roads are urged to take it slow, as ponding water could make for dangerous driving in the west end.
