Fire District 3 sells Lost Mountain Station

SEQUIM — Clallam County Fire District 3 has finalized the sale of Lost Mountain Station 36 , selling the property for $324,000 to a nearby resident. Opened in 1980, the station was intended to serve an area six miles south of U.S. Highway 101 but has lacked active volunteers since 2021 and hasn’t housed a fire apparatus for about a decade. Fire officials determined the station was no longer cost-effective to maintain due to low call volumes and deferred maintenance costs.

Proceeds from the sale will help fund the construction of Carlsborg Station 33 at the district’s Training and Operations Center on Carlsborg Road. The district noted the Carlsborg station provides adequate service to the area, with an approximate eight-minute response time.

As part of the closure, the station’s bell was removed and donated to Sequim Museum and Arts. The district is also exploring ways to support the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), potentially using some sale funds for a storage container if space can be donated nearby.
