PORT ANGELES — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Active (WMEC 618) returned home Friday after a 65-day patrol off Southern California, covering 5,500 miles in support of maritime border security.
The crew interdicted three vessels carrying 46 migrants and helped apprehend 40 more, transferring all to Customs and Border Protection in San Diego. They also responded to four search and rescue cases and conducted joint training with regional Coast Guard units.
A 210-foot medium endurance cutter, Active has safeguarded U.S. waters for over 60 years, reinforcing national security and law enforcement efforts along the Pacific.
