SEQUIM – One child died, and another was seriously injured in a fire last night east of Port Angeles.
Emergency crews responded to the 1300 block of Gasman Road about 7:45 after receiving reports of the fire. Clallam County Fire District 3 Chief Justin Grider says crews arrived quickly and worked to control the blaze, but despite their efforts, one young victim lost their life. Another juvenile suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Olympic Medical Center before being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for advanced treatment. Their current condition remains unknown.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Fire District 3 and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). Officials have not yet determined whether foul play, electrical issues, or other factors were involved.
