Clallam EDC Honors Local Excellence: Brix Marine, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Mike McAleer Recognized

SEQUIM — The Clallam County Economic Development Council (EDC) presented its annual awards on Friday evening, recognizing businesses, nonprofits, and individuals for their contributions to the local economy and community.

Brix Marine was awarded Business of the Year, acknowledged for its growth, innovation, and economic impact in the marine industry. Managing Director Perry Knudson accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula received Nonprofit of the Year, recognized for its programs that provide meals, academic support, and affordable childcare for local youth. Executive Director Mary Budke accepted the award.

The Olympic Leader Award was posthumously awarded to Mike McAleer, a U.S. Army veteran and founder of Team McAleer. He was involved in multiple civic organizations, served on various boards, and volunteered extensively after retirement. Shannon Burke, his widow, along with his children Michael and Colleen McAleer, accepted the award.
