PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles delivered a dominant performance in fastpitch action, shutting out Bainbridge 14-0 behind a five-inning no-hitter from junior pitcher Lynzee Reid. The Roughriders improved to 4-1 on the season as Reid cruised through five efficient innings, striking out six batters and not allowing a single hit. Already drawing attention from NWAC programs, Reid also led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.
The Riders’ bats were hot all around. Abby Kimball went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, Lexie Smith added a 2-for-3 effort with a double and an RBI, and Mariah Traband was a perfect 2-for-2. Heidi Leitz turned in a strong game as well, going 2-for-3 with two triples and an RBI.

In other prep sports action, Port Angeles baseball is on the road at Bainbridge this evening, while Sequim travels to North Mason. Both games are scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. start. On the soccer pitch, Port Angeles heads to Olympic and Sequim visits Bainbridge, with both matches kicking off at 7:00 p.m. In tennis, Bainbridge plays at Sequim and Port Angeles will host Olympic. First serve for both matches is set for 4:00 p.m.

At the college level, former Sequim Wolf Christina Grubb has started her junior season at Arizona Christian University. Grubb earned NAIA and GSAC Scholar-Athlete honors as a sophomore and has appeared in 16 games so far this season, starting 13 at catcher. She’s hitting .229 over 16 at-bats with four runs scored, eight hits, two doubles, two triples, and six RBIs. The Firestorm are currently 13-13 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Former Sequim Wolf Christina Grubb is having another solid season at Arizona Christian University
Her brother, Michael Grubb, also a former Sequim standout, is in his senior season at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey. He has played in six games, making one start, and is hitting .286 with seven at-bats, two hits, and two runs scored.
