PORT ANGELES — The accolades continue to roll in for former Port Angeles Roughrider and Peninsula College Pirate Millie Long at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Long, who maintains a 3.66 GPA while majoring in Journalism and Public Communications, has been named to the Academic All-District Basketball Team, recognizing her performance both on the court and in the classroom.

In high school baseball action last night, Bainbridge edged Port Angeles 3-2, while North Mason topped Sequim 4-2. With a major storm forecasted to arrive today, it’s uncertain whether tonight’s scheduled games will be played. As it stands, Bainbridge is slated to travel to Port Angeles, and Sequim is set to host North Mason. Both games are scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. start.
On the tennis courts, Olympic defeated Port Angeles by a score of 5-2. In singles play, Bridget Weed fell in straight sets, while Emma Murray battled through three sets to earn a win. Pyper Alton also came through in a hard-fought match, claiming victory in a tiebreak after dropping the first set. In doubles, Olympic swept all four matches, with Port Angeles’ pairs unable to break through despite strong efforts across the board.
In fastpitch softball, Sequim is set to host East Jefferson today at 4:15. Tomorrow’s schedule has Port Angeles hosting Olympic and Sequim hosting Bainbridge, with both games also set for a 4:15 start.

In boys’ soccer, Bainbridge handed Sequim a tough 8-0 loss. Port Angeles, meanwhile, earned a gritty 1-0 win over Olympic. The lone goal came in the 22nd minute when Matthew Miller found the net off a pass from Kanyon Anderson. Goalkeeper Gus Halberg recorded his third shutout of the season, and the Roughriders improved to 3-1 in Olympic League play.
