PORT ANGELES — It’s Letter of Intent time for NWAC schools, and Peninsula Pirates Head Basketball Coach Allison Crumb has a tough task ahead: replacing four outstanding scholarship sophomores.
The Pirates received two new signees this week — 5’7” point guard Marly Myers out of Vancouver, Washington, and 6’0” shooting guard Aspen Fraser from West Jordan, Utah.
Myers, who led the Rapids to a 21-6 record, ironically knocked the Port Angeles Roughriders out of the State 2A tournament in a low-scoring, 38-33 loser-out game. She was the star of the game, posting a game-high 11 points and scoring all six of the Rapids’ fourth-quarter points, including two clutch three-pointers.

Marly Myers, seen here on the KONP Newsradio postgame show after leading her Columbia River Rapids past Port Angeles in the state tournament, has signed to play for Allison Crumb’s Peninsula Pirates.
Aspen Fraser is a Utah 6A Third Team All-State selection out of Copper Hills High School in West Jordan. She averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds per game, helping lead the Grizzlies to a 9-1 regional championship and a 21-6 overall record. Fraser shot an impressive 50% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc.

Roughrider student-athlete Pyper Alton kicked off her 2025 Legends sport car racing season with a strong showing on the 3/8-mile track at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.
Pyper qualified 4th in a 24-car field and finished 2nd in her 8-car heat race. In the main event, she started 5th and climbed to 3rd before a spin-out sent her to the back of the pack. Despite the setback, she rallied to finish a respectable 11th.

Pyper Alton, working on her #42 Legends sports car, had a successful opening night at Evergreen Speedway.
Pyper’s older brother, Cole Alton, is also back on the track after taking a year off. He won his 8-car heat race.
The Alton Racing Team plans to compete again April 25th and 26th at Wenatchee Speedway.
