No one hurt in early morning house fire in Sequim

SEQUIM — Fire crews responded to a house fire early Monday morning just before 7:00 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the house at the corner of East Blair Avenue and Still Road in Sequim heavily involved, with thick smoke and visible flames.

According to Fire Chief Justin Grider, crews acted quickly to extinguish the fire.

“Crews were notified by neighbors that the house was on fire. The arriving crews found a heavily involved house. Smoke and fire showing. They did extinguishing. They did find the homeowner. They were able to secure her and her dog. Second time we’ve been to this home in about two months. And so, we are under investigation on what started it, right now.”

No one else was in the house and there were no injuries.

The response was a coordinated effort among multiple agencies. Fire District 2, provided automatic aid, and both the Sequim Police Department and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office were on scene.

“We pride ourselves on helping each other out. I mean, we’re all one big fire family, and we’re all one big cop family, so we help each other out where we can.”

Crews remained at the scene for several hours.
