Blyn – Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving suspected drug and alcohol use on U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 271, in front of the Longhouse Market and Deli.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 7:10 a.m. when a 2005 Honda Accord attempted to make a left turn out of the Longhouse onto westbound Highway 101. The Honda, driven by 31-year-old Melissa J. Cox of Port Angeles, failed to yield to an oncoming eastbound 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 51-year-old Colin L. Baudais of Aberdeen.
The Ford struck the Honda, sending the Honda off the roadway while the Ford came to rest in the median. Both vehicles were totaled.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and sustained injuries. They were transported by aid units to Olympic Medical Center. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
Investigators determined that drugs or alcohol were involved. Cox is facing charges including DUI and possession of a controlled substance.
The crash remains under investigation.
