BREMERTON — The Sequim Wolves varsity fastpitch team has faced some tough games this season, but they erased those memories with a thrilling 11-10 road win over Bremerton last night.
Senior catcher Hannah Giddings came up big, collecting three hits and driving in four runs to lead the Wolves. Sequim erupted for five runs in a huge sixth inning. Rylie Doig tripled to drive in a run, Kylie Winter singled home another, and Giddings followed with an RBI single. Ava Lahmeyer then added to the rally with another RBI single.
The Wolves will now return home to host Kingston on Monday and North Mason on Thursday, with both games broadcast on KONP Newsradio.

Meanwhile, the Port Angeles Roughriders pulled out a nail-biting 5-4 win over Kingston in eight innings. Junior Kennedy Rognlien was the hero, delivering a sacrifice fly to score Mariah Traband with the winning run. It was a full team effort for the Roughriders. Makkhia Stevens doubled and drove in a run. Lynzee Reid walked three times and scored. Sophomore Morgan Politika, who has stepped into the always-busy shortstop role this season, had two singles and scored a run. Besides scoring the winning run, Traband also singled and walked. Heidi Leitz earned the win on the mound.

In golf action, the Port Angeles Roughrider boys shot their way back into the win column, beating Olympic by five strokes, 171-176.
Sky Gelder led the Roughriders with a 40. Tate Alton shot a 42, Noah Myers carded a 44, Cale Wentz finished with a 45, and both Max Gagnon and Austin Worthington shot a 46.
The Roughrider girls also picked up a win, defeating Olympic 194-246.
Autumn Wilson Rowland led the girls with a 46, Claire Osterberg shot a 47, Mia Neff had a 48, Malena Marquez finished with a 54, Lainey Rudd carded a 63, and Layla Parker shot a 66.
The Roughriders travel to North Kitsap on Tuesday.

In girls golf, Sequim and Bainbridge played to the old saying, “a tie is like kissing your sister” — and there was plenty of it as the Wolves and Spartans finished in an incredible 188-188 tie.
Bainbridge’s ace golfer Grace Charintranont played a Pebble Beach-like round, firing a 36.
On Senior Night, Raimey Brewer led Sequim with a personal-best 43. Kaiya Robinson shot a personal-best 48, Sara German also shot a 48, Kendra Dodson carded a 49, Ella Hood finished with a 54, and Chloe Tweter shot a 55.

The Sequim girls golf team has had an outstanding season and celebrated Senior Night against Bainbridge. Honored seniors were Rachel McDougal, Raimey Brewer, Sara German, Chloe Tweter, Kendra Dodson, Ella Hood, and Kaiya Robinson, along with Coach Tim Lusk.

In tennis, the Port Angeles Roughriders ground out a tough 4-3 win at North Mason.
In singles, Emma Murray earned a shutout victory 6-0, 6-0, while Audrey Rudd dominated her opponent 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles, Allysum Larson and Hannah Hairell won 6-1, 6-1, and Pyper Alton and Abby Fox clinched the overall team win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

It was a busy day at the Sequim track and field meet featuring Bremerton along with 1B schools Neah Bay and Clallam Bay, who put on a very respectable showing against the 2A competition.

- 100 Hurdles: Stella Daniels (Sequim) and Cyrus Politte (Clallam Bay)
- 300 Hurdles: Caylee Moss (Neah Bay)
- 4×100 Girls Relay: Neah Bay
- 4×200 Girls Relay: Sequim
- 4×400 Girls Relay: Clallam Bay, and Boys 4×400 Relay: Sequim
- Pole Vault: Ahrya Klinger (Sequim)

In the Olympic League team scores, Sequim’s girls beat Bremerton 77-58, while Bremerton’s boys topped Sequim 74-59.
