Arson Suspect Arrested After Fire Destroys Port Angeles Home, Kills Family Dog

PORT ANGELES — A fire that displaced a family and killed a pet in Port Angeles on Tuesday has been confirmed as arson, and police have arrested a suspect.

The blaze broke out around 3:15 p.m. at a home in the 1000 block of West 8th Street. Fire crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the basement and quickly launched an attack. All residents had safely escaped, but firefighters later found the family dog had died in the fire.

Investigators quickly deemed the fire suspicious, and by Tuesday night, evidence pointed to arson. Police and fire investigators remained on scene for several hours gathering evidence.

On Wednesday around 1 p.m., officers arrested 36-year-old Heather Green of Port Angeles near Front and Laurel streets in downtown Port Angeles.
