Candidate Filing Week Opens May 5 for Clallam County’s 2025 Local Elections

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County residents interested in running for local office will have the opportunity to file their candidacy beginning Monday, May 5, as the official five-day candidate filing period opens.

The filing window, which runs through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, includes a wide range of positions across city councils, school boards, fire districts, hospital districts, port commissions, and other local jurisdictions.

Among the notable offices on the ballot this year are Port of Port Angeles Commissioner Districts 1 and 2, several city council positions in Port Angeles, Sequim, and Forks, and multiple director seats across all five of the county’s school districts. Mayoral and council seats in the City of Forks are also up for election, along with a number of fire district commissioner positions and park and recreation boards.

Candidates may file in one of three ways:

  • Online filing opens at 8:00 a.m. on May 5 and remains available until exactly 5:00 p.m. on May 9 at www.clallamcountywa.gov/elections.
  • In-person filing is available at the Clallam County Elections Office in Room 042 of the county courthouse in Port Angeles.
  • Mail-in declarations must arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 9.

Filing fees must be submitted by the close of the filing period.
